We have heard from a lot of people that have tried out their new mods and vape tanks only to find that the vapor tastes burnt. And the coil seems to be ruined after only a few vapes! That sucks. This is totally avoidable. There are just a few steps you need to take. The first step is to prime a new coil. To prime a coil place a few drops of e-liquid into the cotton visible from the top of the coil. Then put a drop or two into the side juice ports. Then assemble the tank, fill with vape juice and wait at least 10 minutes to allow the wick to fully saturate. But before you really start vaping, this is the time to start breaking in the new coil.

How To Break In A Vape Coil

The process of how to break in a new vape coil is much like warming up before playing a sport. Or like letting the engines on the jet warm up before flying to Denver. Breaking in a vape coil is the same concept. A coil is simply a cylinder that contains the atomizer wire and cotton wick. Or sometimes the wick may be bamboo like with the Falcon King vape tank. Either way, the wick is an absorbent dry material that will burn if it is not saturated.

The metal coil itself is typically a Kanthal wire. Kanthal is a metal that withstands heat incredibly well, which makes it great for vaping. But that metal coil performs better if it is broken in gradually.

The first step to break into vape coil is to look at the side of the coil to see the manufacturer's recommended wattage settings. For example, a coil might say 40 to 80 Watts. That's what the coil is rated for. You do not want to exceed 80 watts. And when you first start vaping, it is a good idea to start at the lowest recommended wattage. When you first install a new coil, set the wattage to the lowest recommended setting. To break in a vape coil, the first three puffs on a new coil should be at the lowest setting and three very short puffs. After those first three short puffs, take longer fuller puffs as you would normally do. After about five to 10 vapes at the lowest recommended wattage setting, increase the wattage by 5 watts. The first vape at the new increase wattage setting should be a short like puff. After that take a normal puffs for the next five vapes.

Then after that you can once again increase the watts by five. Repeat this process until you reach the desired wattage level. At this point the user can vape to their heart’s content. The break in process will help extend the life of the coil and lead to a better vape. Here again are the steps of how to break in a new vape coil:

• Examine the new coil. The recommended wattage range should be clearly stamped on the coil.
• If the recommended wattage setting is not marked on the coil, consult the packaging to find the recommended wattage range.
• Install the new coil into the base of the tank.
• Prime the coil by placing a few drops of e-liquid on to the exposed wick.
• Assemble the tank and fill with vape juice.

• Once the tank is assembled attach it to the mod and leave it alone for 10 minutes.
• Set the power on the mod to the lowest recommended wattage.
• Take three short, quick vapes.
• The next five vapes will be normal, longer hits.
• Increase the wattage by five.
• Take a short, quick vape.
• The next five to ten vapes can be normal hits.
• Increase the wattage by five.
• Repeat the process until you reach the desired wattage.
