Vape detectors are now available. A vape detector senses the flavor odors in vapor. The device itself looks like a smoke detector. They can be installed high on a wall or ceiling and send an alert when vapor is detected.
Schools are installing vape detectors in bathrooms and locker rooms. If the detector is triggered, an alert is sent to a teacher's cell phone indicating the location. The teacher can though go and catch the student who is vaping. Most schools have banned vaping and there are hopes that vaping detectors can help curb teen vape use.
Vape detectors in schools are a great idea. Back in the old days, it was all about smoking in the boys room. Times have changed. If vape detection technology proves effective, we may see them start to turn up in work places as well. This is a good reminder that we all need to do our part to prevent young people from taking up vaping. And to respect others and the rules in the workplace.
